![]() If they know the date in the lunar month, they can tell the time by just looking where the moon is in the sky. The roosters (everywhere in the world starting from a very old period in history of evolution I would guess) always crow at about the same time every night: midnight, then 3:00 AM, then 5-6 AM. In places where there is no village time keeper, people use roosters to know when to wake up for work. This practice continued until after WWII in some places. It could be a water drip clock, or burning incense, or a western time piece, or just plain old guessing. How they know what time it is varies from place to place and from period to period in history. Every two hours or so a guard at the village hall beats a drum loudly to announce the time and the shift change. ![]() A night is divided into 5 periods (called “canh” which literally means guard shift in Vietnamese). In some East Asian countries like Vietnam or China in ancient time, local government is responsible for night time keeping. Then, those same watch-bearing travelers would hop onto another train to a different city, updating clocks across the country, one station at a time. These timekeepers would arrive in a given town, hop off the train, and go show their watch to the station masters. The railroad companies needed to keep precise track of London time, so they would send out people from London on trains with precisely tuned watches so that regional clocks like this one could be kept up to date. The third hand, painted black so it stands out, is set to London time, and it’s a holdover from a period when the world was transitioning from more local times to broader standardized timekeeping. Strangely, it has not two hands but three. It’s this old, ornate clock that hangs on the facade of the Bristol Corn Exchange building in England. Bristol Corn Exchange Clock, image by Stephen McKay (CC BY-SA 2.0)īut there’s one neat artifact in particular from that period which really brings the point home - and this one didn’t make it into the book. Suddenly, high-speed transit collapsed both time and space, making it easier to go faster and farther while also forcing the world into fewer and fewer time zones. In The 99% Invisible City, authors Roman Mars and Kurt Kohlstedt wrote about the standardization of time in the modern era, which was driven by the expansion of railways. This series of time-centric stories challenges what you know (or think you know) about the way time works around the world. A lot of what we think about time is relatively recent, and some of what we take for granted isn’t quite as universal as one might think. For the most part, we take time for granted maybe we don’t have enough of it, but we at least know how it works - well, most of the time.

After a careful analysis of the proposal, it was determined that contracts are too similar to interfaces. That was until August 2018, when the Go team introduced the notion of Contracts and started a big discussion with the community about how generics could look and work in Go.īased on overwhelming feedback from the community, the Contracts proposal evolved and was modified until mid-2019. While the Go team never explicitly rejected them, they also did not have a good way to solve the problem of introducing generics to the language without making Go look and feel less Go-like. Generics have been some of the most desired language features since Go’s inception. In today’s article, we will experiment with generics in Go, and their latest form, Type Parameters.īefore we start, let’s take a quick look at the proposal’s history. ![]() “The rearchitected engine in Wirecast 15, which includes an update to Direct3D12 on Windows as well as many other efficiency updates, lets streaming pros do more with less. We will begin with a small blending brush and some black paint, using these to define the separating line of the beak. This is quite a big step, involving many different forms of texture creation. You can then apply a soft touch of contouring between the top feathers and the wing layer.įinally, with the same soft brush and some grey paint, add a little contouring to the edges of the webbed feet. Apply a soft contouring layer on the top and bottom areas of the neck including the head and beak. Begin with a small soft blending brush and either a dark orange or a red shade of paint. With our base color now in place, we are going to use a darker shade to add a little three-dimensionality. With a regular paintbrush and some light pink paint, evenly coat the entirety of your flamingo illustration. Now that we have our basic flamingo sketch outlined, we can begin to bring it to life with color. To complete your flamingo legs, create webbed feet on the bottom. Flamingos have knees that bend the opposite way to ours, so the legs should first extend slightly backward and then slightly forwards. Finally, we will draw the two long noodle-like legs. As we move down the body of your flamingo sketch, we can add some feather detail to the main body using a combination of short and long lines. Now that you have the shape, you can draw the face detail, including a small round eye and a fine line within the beak. You can also draw the large downward-curving beak of the flamingo. Begin with the small rounded head on the top of the neck. We will do this by drawing the legs and the head, as well as adding some feather texture to the body. In this step, we are going to create the final outline of our flamingo illustration. Step 4: Finishing the Flamingo Sketch Outline You can also add some feather details to the bottom of the body oval, creating a more realistic shape. This wing should end with some slightly jagged feathers that flow downwards. Using the main body oval as the base shape, draw a large curving wing that is a little less smooth. We are now going to add some more detail to the body of our flamingo illustration. ![]() ![]() Step 3: Add Feather Details to the Flamingo Tail This line should end slightly higher than the initial line. You can then complete the neck shape by creating the other line of the neck, beginning just below the left point of the body oval. Draw a long curving line that swoops to the left and up in an elongated “S” shape. Begin on the left side of the body, just below it. Now that we have the main body of our flamingo sketch in place, we can use it to construct the basic shape of the flamingo’s neck. Find the central point of your drawing area, and place this oval slightly above the center. This is a simple oval shape that is sloped with the left side being slightly higher. We begin this flamingo illustration by creating the basic shape of the flamingo’s body. ![]() Once you have your supplies ready and you have somewhere nice and comfortable to sit, we can begin learning how to draw a flamingo. For physical mediums like paint or coloring pencils, we suggest using a very light pencil for these outlines. We suggest that you create the initial construction outline on a separate layer that can be easily erased later. If you are a digital artist, then you can easily adapt the instructions to suit a drawing tablet. This flamingo drawing tutorial is compatible with almost every medium that you choose. We use color not only to bring the flamingo illustration to life but also to add more depth and dimension. After this, we start to add some more detailed flamingo sketch details, before we begin to add color. We begin with a simple oval, and then begin to build up the neck shape. You can see the steps of the tutorial in the collage below. In order to ensure these proportions are correct, we build up the final shape using smaller and simpler base shapes. 2.2 What Colors do You Need for a Flamingo Drawing?įlamingos can be quite tricky to draw because they have very unique proportions.2.1 How to Draw a Flamingo with Realistic Proportions?.1.11 Step 11: Finish Your Flamingo Illustration.1.9 Step 9: Create Texture in the Legs of Your Flamingo Sketch.1.8 Step 8: Create Fine Detail on the Face.1.6 Step 6: Begin Adding the Definition.1.4 Step 4: Finishing the Flamingo Sketch Outline.1.3 Step 3: Add Feather Details to the Flamingo Tail. Previous research, which was reported by Forbes magazine, showed that a company loses a lot of customers due to lack of online chats (Luo, 2008). The introduction of the online chat support services will help retain the customers who are already attached to NetFlix and attract new ones. The chatting systems are more efficient than making the calls.
